Heroic Deputy Saves Driver's Life

A Michigan deputy is being hailed as a hero after he climbed into a moving truck to save the driver who was suffering from a medical emergency.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Matthew Kolp was responding to a call about a reckless driver on I-75 in Highland Township on Tuesday night.

When Kolp arrived, he found a moving truck driving erratically. He tried to pull the truck over, but the driver didn't stop.

Deputy Kolp Takes Decisive Action

Kolp followed the truck for several miles until it finally came to a stop on the side of the road.

Kolp got out of his patrol car and approached the truck. He found the driver slumped over the steering wheel, unresponsive.

Kolp opened the door and climbed into the truck. He found that the driver was not breathing and had no pulse.

Life-Saving Rescue

Kolp immediately began CPR and called for paramedics.

Paramedics arrived and took over the driver's care. They transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

The sheriff's office said that the driver suffered a medical emergency, but it is not clear what caused the emergency.

Deputy Kolp's Bravery Commended

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard commended Kolp for his bravery and quick thinking.

"Deputy Kolp's actions saved this driver's life," Bouchard said. "He is a true hero."

Kolp has been with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office for four years. He is a member of the department's Special Operations Team.
